Bak Kut Teh may have it roots in Klang, but Kepong also putting up a strong fight. Kepong is just another Bak Kut Teh haven apart from Klang and it is easily spotted just like that. Driving around Kepong, you will spot many Bak Kut Teh shops easily which the shops usually located nearby each other.
1. Restoran Lieong Kee Bae Good Teh
Besides being one of the oldest Bak Kut Teh restaurant in Kepong, Lieong Kee is also one of the earliest to open for breakfast as early as 6am. If you think having Bak Kut Teh for breakfast is too heavy, the morning crowd here will be glad to disagree with you.
For
first timers, I think it’s important to note that the style of Bak Kut Teh here
might not appeal to everyone – especially those who have a particular liking
for Klang style BKT. The soup here is clear with a very faint herbal flavour,
extremely garlicky and tastes quite sweet.

Taman Kepong, 52100 Kepong
Business hours: 6am – 2pm, 6.30pm – 10.30pm (closed
on Mondays)
If you frequent Kepong, you would notice that there
are many bak kut teh restaurants with the same Chinese name –
兴记. This is not a
coincidence because they are opened by the disciples of the same master who
taught them the recipe. That also explains why their bak kut teh and
supplementary dishes are so similar to each other.
The braised pork here is a must try and the fattier
parts such as the knuckle are recommended for the best experience. There’s
nothing quite as satisfying as biting into soft and bouncy skin, followed by
tender meat and fat that melts away in your mouth. The rich sauce was delicious
too, the best stuff to mix into rice and enjoy.

3. Ka Ka Bak Kut Teh
If you are craving for Bak Kut Teh during midnight odd hours, this shop can satisfied your craving. Ka Ka Bat Kut Teh opens until late night 4.30am. During dinner time you will see that this shop will be full with customers. The place was packed, until the shop houses behind
were used to accommodate the customers.
“Zhu Jiao Chu” – Pork Hind cooked with Vinegar(it’s a dish for pregnant women) is one of their speciality that I recommend to try.
